There's Noting Like Volunteering and Giving Back!

In February and during my spring break of this year, I volunteered a few days for six hours at M.V. Leckie Elementary School in South West, Washington, DC. I know it's not many hours, but knowing you're doing something for a great cause, can feel like forever. Especially when children are involved!

Here's just a few that I chosen to post.

Third grader's Brittany Parker, 8, and Sky Evans, 8, makes funny facial expressions for volunteer pictures for photojournalist Shavon Hampton.

A head start student, Darnell Evans, 3, dances to the music with other students at M.V. Leckie Elementary School.

Head starter Lanay Young, 3, sneaks hand sanitizer on her hands while the teacher isn't looking before going home Thursday, March 3, 2011.

A head start student, Aiden Smith, 3, hops around on his sleeping cart during nap time while the other students rest Thursday, March 10, 2011 at M.V. Leckie Elementary School in South West, Washington, DC.

Elementary Educator, Stephanie Riggsbee, dismisses her students at 3:15 p.m., to go home Thursday, March 10, 2011.

Aftercare aide, Ms. Parker, plays the game Simon Saids with the students before they go home for the day Thursday, March 3, 2011.
